​This exceptional project involved the construction of a main residence spanning over 550m² across two floors, located on the edge of Lake Windermere. The build required innovative design solutions and construction strategies to mitigate potential flood risks due to its lakeside setting. The result is a home of outstanding quality, showcasing premium materials, high-end fittings, and expert craftsmanship throughout.

The project made extensive use of both new and reclaimed local natural materials for both the exterior and interior finishes. Large expanses of opening glazing were incorporated to maximise the panoramic views over the lake. Sustainability was a key focus, with all buildings exceeding Building Regulation insulation standards to significantly reduce heat loss and carbon emissions.

The main house features two cascade 3-phase air source heat pumps with app-controlled remote access, alongside an in-roof solar photovoltaic array optimally positioned to capture sunlight. The adjacent boathouse is equipped with a water source heat pump system, using lake water filtered for sediment as its heat source offering an efficient and environmentally friendly heating solution.
