SOLAR PANELS
Solar PV panels convert sunlight into electricity using layers of semi-conducting material, typically silicon. When light hits the surface of the panel, it creates an electric field that generates direct current (DC) electricity. This energy is then converted for use throughout the home to power appliances and lighting.

Importantly, Solar PV panels don’t require direct sunlight to work they can still produce electricity on cloudy days. However, the stronger the sunlight, the more electricity they generate.

Benefits of Solar Panels:
-
Harnesses free, renewable energy from the sun
-
Helps reduce electricity bills
-
Lowers your home's carbon footprint preventing up to 1 tonne of CO2 emissions per year
-
Allows surplus energy to be exported back to the grid
-
Typically produces 3.5-4kWp for a domestic system
